​These are my first 9 projects completed over a 3 to 4 month period, so I know they work.

Get a start kit and control devices with a simple smart plug

Control one of your existing Infra-red devices with the home automation Apps

Control some RF devices (like the garage door) from the home automation apps

Swap a light switch for a smart switch

Introduce mood / feature lighting

Add home sensors for opening of doors windows, for both security, convenience (turns on lights for you) and to know the movements of family members (are the kids home yet?)

Buy a low cost robotic vacuum cleaner (just the normal infra-red type) and/or a robotic lawn mower and control from your Automation Apps

Install a simple App on your phone that accepts voice commands (Hey Google, turn on the balcony lights)

Now the grand finale, this step will open you up to the endless possibilities at your disposal....
Install a "smart NAS" with home automation software built (which for starters gives you access to all the major home automation systems, software, tools devices on the planet) so you can implement a rich, personalised smart home environment
